Week one

Hi Everyone,

My name is Cindy Bear.  I am an older student returning to complete my education degree with a major in secondary Health and minor in Social Studies.  I have been married for 12 years and have 4 great kids.  I live near Whitewood, SK. and commute to Regina for classes.  I am in my 3rd year of teaching and have my 3 week block for pre-internship this semester in March.  I was one of the students that begged for a spot in this class because Health majors only had a block of 4 classes this semester that were covered for the pre-internship not 5 like everyone else.  So I needed a class I could continue to do back home while doing my pre-internship.

We are an active hockey family and enjoy the outdoors, camping, boating, softball and love our horses and dogs.  I will be honest in saying I am horrible on the computer and have enlisted the help of my 12 year old son and 10 year old twin daughters to help with my University homework!!  When I graduated we still were using typewriters so anything with a computer is a challenge.  I am slowly learning each semester and jumped at the opportunity to increase my computer knowledge with this class.  I have learned the basics of face time and Skype with my older son as he plays away from home for hockey.  He also helped me with Twitter to keep up with the times!!

Looking forward to an exciting semester and learning lots.

  1. I have 4 kids too but since mine are older, I totally relate to the pace of your life right now. Glad to see you jumping in with both feet in this class. I see nothing but good things for you.

Thanks Dean!! Yes, it does tend to get busy at times! I am jumping in with both feet into the class, just hope I can tread the waters enough to keep my head above the water!!

  2. Cindy, I love learning from the experiences of the after degree or older students. It’s nice to learn about your family and education background as well. I find it cool that your children are helping you with technology!

Thanks Stephanie!! My kids also think it is pretty cool to be helping me with my University homework!! I will remind them of this when they are older and not wanting to go!!
